Role of Activated Carbon in Solvent Recovery

Activated carbon primarily functions in solvent recovery through its excellent adsorption capabilities. The porous structure of activated carbon effectively captures and stores industrial solvent vapors. By employing adsorption and desorption processes, the used organic solvents, such as toluene and ethanol, can be recovered for reuse.

Activated carbon can be regenerated through steam desorption or thermal air regeneration techniques, enabling the solvents to be reused.
